Easy to make a princess cape for birthday

DIY PRINCESS CAPE

It's well known, little girls love to dress up as princess. It can be classics like Cinderella and Snow White or modern princesses like Merida or Rapunzel. So for a great animation for a princess-themed birthday party, we had a great idea. We took tissue paper, string and card stock and made a simple princess cape that guests will love!
This idea was inspired by the great blog By Little Ones, a goldmine of ideas for creative minds.

EQUIPMENT

The princess cape printable
pink tissue paper
A sheet of card stock
A sheet of aluminum
A spool of yarn (or any thick enough yarn)
A tube of glue
A stapler
A pair of scissors
Markers or colored pencils

    Print the crown printable and gather your materials.

    Have the children color the inside of the crown.

    Cut out the princess crown.

    Take a sheet of tissue paper and glue the crown in the center.

    Take the sheet of card stock and cut a strip of 29.7 x 7cm from it. Then, fold one side of the silk sheet and staple it to the end of the strip of paper. Do the same on the other side.

    Pleat the entire silk sheet and staple the top to the strip of card stock to give it a cape shape.

    Cut 1m of wool and place it along the cardboard strip, leaving 30cm overhang on each side. Staple the wire to the cardboard strip.

    Turn the cape over and put glue on the entire surface of the cardboard strip. Glue the aluminum foil to it lengthwise.

    Turn the cape over and fold down the aluminum foil, gluing it to the other side of the cardboard strip.

    Fold the edges of the aluminum that protrude giving them a triangular shape to make a real cape effect.

Voila, your princess cape is ready! It will go perfectly for a great birthday with friends!


Practical tip: to make the activity last longer, you can suggest that each little girl customize her cape with stickers.
