Before starting the birthday activity, tell the children about the origin of the word dinosaur. The dino comes from the Greek words (very good opportunity to talk to them about Greek) deinos (terrible, magnificent) and saûros (reptile, lizard). The dinosaur is therefore a terrible lizard! The dino appeared about 230 million years ago and disappeared 60 million years ago. And now it's on for the quizzes !

You can also ask them to name the different types of dino: land animals, flying animals, bipeds, quadrupeds, carnivores, herbivores.
In each dino category, you can ask them to give you dino names. If they know how to write, ask the children in groups to sort the dinos by category! Some kids are real experts.
Some dino names: Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Microraptor, Velociraptor...
The questions must be asked quickly so as not to lose the children... You can also illustrate your remarks with small figurines!
You may well be surprised to measure the extent of their knowledge!
And if you still have time (and motivation), you can find another birthday games idea on our blog!
