    Tell the kids about our solar system. The solar system is so vast that it was necessary to invent a special system of measurement: the astronomical unit. It is the distance which separates the Earth from the Sun, that is to say 150 million km. Planet Earth was formed 4,5 billion years ago.

    Here are some ideas for questions that should appeal to budding cosmonauts:

    - What is the closest star to Earth? (the sun)
    - What is the largest planet in our solar system? (Jupiter)
    - How many planets are there in the solar system? (8)
    - Is there a dwarf planet in our system? (Pluto)

    Ask them to name the different planets in the solar system and to order them starting from the Sun:
    Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

    Ask them to name the different known astronauts:
    Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, Thomas Pesquet.

    - Who was the first to go into space? (Gagarin)
    - The first one walked on the moon? (Armstrong)
    - The first living animal in space? (the dog Laïka aboard the Sputnik 2)

    To classify the different planets by size between:
    - small planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars)
    - and giant planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune)
